WINDHOEK, 31 July 2024 – In a landmark move for Namibia’s education and transport sectors, TransNamib Holdings Ltd and The International University of Management (IUM) have inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) to drive innovation and development in the country. This dynamic collaboration is set to pave the way for unparalleled growth in human resource development, knowledge sharing, and research, all in support of Namibia’s National Development Plan (NDP5) and Vision 2030.
The agreement introduces cutting-edge programmes, workshops, and courses designed to enhance the skills and capacity of TransNamib’s workforce. These initiatives aim to ensure that employees are well-equipped to meet the demands of the modern transportation sector. TransNamib and IUM will also collaborate on creating advanced curricula and training materials, particularly in rail engineering and other essential fields. This effort is geared towards bolstering Namibia’s human capital, ensuring that the workforce is prepared for future challenges and opportunities.
The partnership provides prime opportunities for IUM students to participate in real-world research projects, internships, and in-service training within various departments at TransNamib. This hands-on experience is crucial for students’ professional development and readiness for the job market.
Exciting programmes for excursions and field attachments will be established, offering IUM students practical experience and professional growth at TransNamib. These initiatives are designed to complement theoretical knowledge with real-world application, enhancing students’ overalleducational experience. The agreement also includes joint research initiatives aimed at generating new knowledge and developing practical solutions within the transportation sector in a Namibian environment. This collaboration will foster innovation and contribute to the advancement of both institutions’ research capabilities.
